Deleting Your Doch! Account
This page explains how to delete your account for Doch!, the mobile app published by Liudmila Kapustina, and exactly what is deleted and what is kept when you do.
There are two ways: from inside the app, and by writing to us. Both delete the same things.
On this page
Option 1 — Delete it yourself, in the app
This is immediate and needs nothing from us.
- Open Doch! and sign in.
- Tap Profile in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll to the bottom of that screen and tap Delete account.
- Read the confirmation and confirm.
Your account and the data listed below are deleted straight away.
Before you confirm: if you have Doch! PRO days remaining, deleting the account forfeits them. They are not refunded and cannot be moved to another account.
Option 2 — Ask us to delete it
Use this if you no longer have the app installed, or cannot sign in.
- Email support@dochapp.com from the email address you use to sign in, with Delete my account as the subject. If you prefer not to use email, the contact form on our Impressum page reaches the same mailbox.
- If you write from a different address, we will email a one-time code to the account’s address to confirm the request is yours. We cannot delete an account on the word of an address we cannot connect to it.
- We confirm in writing once it is done.
We action deletion requests within 30 days, and usually within a few working days.
What is deleted
| Data | What happens to it |
|---|---|
| Account and sign-in data — your email address, display name and account identifier | Deleted from our live systems immediately. Copies held in routine backups are overwritten as those backups expire, within 30 days. |
| The texts you submitted for writing practice, and the AI feedback on them | Same as above |
| Your reading and listening attempts, your progress and your exam-readiness figure | Same as above |
| Writing drafts saved on your device | Removed from the device when the app deletes the account. Uninstalling the app also removes them. |
| Crash and performance reports | These are not linked to your account and carry no email address or name. They are deleted automatically at the end of our crash reporting provider’s retention period, which is no longer than 90 days. |
What is kept, and why
Two things survive deletion. Neither is linked to your name or your email address afterwards, and neither is ever used to profile you.
| Kept | Why | For how long |
|---|---|---|
| The purchase record: which store a purchase came from, its transaction identifier, which access package was bought, and the access period it granted | So that a purchase can never unlock access twice, and so that a refund the store issues later is still applied | Three years from the end of the year in which the access period ended |
| A record that the deletion happened: an internal account identifier and the date — not your name, not your email address | So we can show a deletion request was carried out | Three years from the end of the year in which the account was deleted |
Three years is chosen so that the period runs past the general limitation period for claims about the purchase under German law (§§ 195, 199 BGB), which starts at the end of the year a claim arises rather than the year of the purchase. We delete the records once it ends.
